FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 21, 2008Acclaimed Theologian Discusses the Dignity of DifferenceBRYN MAWR, PA – August 21, 2008 – Dr. Stanley Hauerwas, Professor of Theological Ethics, Duke University Divinity School, will be speaking at Eastern University on Thursday, October 2 at 7:00 pm. “Pentecost,” the Hauerwas lecture, is part of the Metanexus Institute Lecture Series. The event, co-sponsored by the Templeton Honor College at Eastern University, is free and open to the public. About “Pentecost” Lecture Date and Location: About Dr. Stanley Hauerwas Time magazine named Dr. Hauerwas "America’s Best Theologian" in 2001. He is the Gilbert T. Rowe Professor of Theological Ethics at Duke University Divinity School, and holds a joint appointment at Duke Law School. His book, A Community of Character: Toward a Constructive Christian Social Ethic, was selected as one of the 100 most important books on religion of the 20th century. Dr. Hauerwas recently authored Matthew: Brazos Theological Commentary on the Bible, (Grand Rapids: Brazos Press, 2006) and The State of the University: Academic Knowledges and the Knowledge of God, (Oxford: Blackwell Publishing, 2007).
