ESSSAT Conference: Barcelona, 1-6 April, 2004

Conference

The European Society for the Study of Science and Theology (ESSSAT) invites you to the Tenth European Conference on Science and Theology, in Barcelona. Cultural Dynamics. The interaction of science and religion, of ancient traditions and modern knowledge, contributes to the dynamics of cultures. As Barcelona hosts in 2004 the World Forum of Cultures, it is of great interest for ESSSAT, to consider the way science and theology shape and are shaped by cultures . Streams of wisdom? Science offers knowledge. Is this wisdom? Religions offer traditional wisdom - but is it still wisdom in our time? Are science and theology streams flowing into the same sea? Do they spring from the same source? Do they run in opposite directions?

Reception will be on Thursday April 1st, 2004, at 18.30 in the Facultat de Teologia de Catalunya (Diputaci=A2 231; earlier arrivers can register there and walk in the city). The conference venue from Friday to Monday will be the Universitat Ramon Llull, Institut Qu=B0mic de Sarri=DD (IQS, Via Augusta 390). All participants will share an half-day excursion to the picturesque Mountain of Montserrat, symbol of Catalan culture and religiosity. Departure will be after breakfast on Tuesday, April 6th.
