Budi Widianarko (BW) is professor of environmental Toxicology at the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Soegijapranata Catholic University (UNIKA), Semarang, Indonesia. His teaching and research activities are centered on the ecology, toxicology and safety of food, including the interaction between water and food. He also chairs the Graduate Program on Environmental and Urban Studies at the same university. Dr. Widianarko obtained his first degree in animal science from Diponegoro University, Semarang in 1986. His masterï¾’s and doctorate degrees in ecotoxicology were earned from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 1991 and 1997 respectively. He has been an active member the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) since 1993, and now serves as a member of the Board of Directors of SETAC Asia/Pacific (2004-2009). He is also one of the founding members of the Indonesian Society for Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology (since 2002). Complementary to his academic activities, he has been working for several NGOs mostly in the area of environmental, agricultural, and water advocacy. Recently, he joined the International Working Group of the Water Dialogues, a multi-stakeholders forum on water and the private sector, based in London, UK. Last but not least, he is also a member of the Salatiga Circle for In-depth Study of Science and Religion Relation (SCISOSARR), a local sustainable initiative affiliated with the Metanexus Institute
