Carol Blakney is an artist, activist, and independent scholar. She received a bachelor of fine arts at the University of Massachusetts in 1982, then continued on to do art history research at Mount Holyoke College, becoming project manager for The Oxford Guide to Classical Subjects in the Arts, published in 1993. She began working with Abel Alves on biohistory in 1994. In 2001, she organized an international network of academics and activists to provided free community-specific research on environmental issues and co-developed BioMuncie.org with Catherine Kavassalis.
