Jacob Neusner is Research Professor of Theology and Senior Fellow of the Institute of Advanced Theology at Bard College. He received his B.A. from Harvard, a Masters of Hebrew Letters from Jewish Theological Seminary, and his Ph.D. from Columbia University. He has also held teaching and research positions at Columbia University; University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee; Brandeis University; Brown University (1968-1990); Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton; University of South Florida; and Clare Hall, Cambridge University. He is the recipient of numerous distinguished prizes and awards including the Detur Book Award, The Abraham Berliner Prize in Jewish History, the Columbia University Medal for Excellence, The Rabbi Solomon Goldman Creativity Award, Distinguished Humanitarian Award, Melton Center for Jewish Studies, Ambassador for the Arts for the National Endowment for the Arts, and The Queen Christina of Sweden Medal. He is the author of many scholarly articles and books on Judaism, as well as The Midrash: An Introduction; A Rabbi Talks with Jesus; The Bible and Us: A Priest and a Rabbi Read Scripture Together; Judaism: An Introduction; Judaism When Christianity Began: A Survey of Belief and Practice; The Way of Torah: An Introduction to Judaism; World Religions in America: An Introduction; Judaism and the Interpretation of Scripture: Introduction to the Rabbinic Midrash.
