Dr. Belle received his Ph.D. in Renaissance and Medieval History from the University of Rochester and did the research for his dissertation as a Fulbright Fellow in Italy. He taught European history at Wayne State University and Alfred University before joining the Center for Higher Education at the University of Michigan . He came to Rochester Institute of Technology in 1976 where he has served as , Associate Vice President for Faculty and Program Development, Dean of the College of Continuing Education. In addition to religious thought and culture in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, Dr. Belle has a had a long standing interest in the Quakers and Thomas Merton which has resulted in conference presentation on Quaker pacifism and Thomas Mertonï¾’s interest in Quaker spirituality.
