Paul A. Morgan is an associate professor in the Department of Professional and Secondary Education at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. His campus and scholarly work are devoted to exploring the historical precedents, philosophical rationale, and practical means for creating more ecologically sustainable educational institutions. He has published articles on the life and writings of Liberty Hyde Bailey, a critical figure in the history of environmental ethics and nature-study, and is currently developing a program that integrates environmental, outdoor, and sustainability education (EOS). His most recent writing seeks to frame the challenge of environmental sustainability as the unprecedented task of deliberate worldview transition, which is where science-religion dialogue takes on increasing urgency. See “The Foundations of Planetary Agrarianism: Thomas Berry and Liberty Hyde Bailey”, in The Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Ethics 19.5 (August 2006). Dr. Morgan holds a B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1985), and a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Education from Columbia University, Teachers College (1998).
