Fr. Georg Ziselsberger, SVD is a missionary priest member of the Society of the Divine Word. He did his theological studies at the congregation’s Schools of Theology in Austria and Germany. Currently, he is Assistant Professor of Theology at the Department of Theology, School of the Humanities, Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines and the Chair of the GIES LSI group in Manila, Philippines that received a 2006 Metanexus Supplemental Grant for the ‘International Teilhard_Asia_2006 Conference’ held at Ateneo de Manila University last September 2006.
Being a member of the European Christian Environmental Network (ECEN) he has been lecturing on Ecological Theology, Creation Spirituality and Environmental Ethics at the Russian Orthodox ‘Kyrill and Method Academy’ in Minsk, Belarus and at the Greek-Catholic Theological Academy in Ivano Frankivsk, Ukraine.
He is the director of Geochris Foundation, a Manila-based NGO that works in the fields of socio-culturally friendly forms of sustainable development with indigenous peoples in the Philippine archipelago; that - in cooperation with the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines - promotes the introduction of the celebration of a ‘Creation Day’ and a ‘Season of Creation’ into the church liturgical calendar; and which is the host to the LSI GIES group that does outreach activities to various groups and institutions in the Philippines to promote the science and religion dialogue.
As much as time permits he is engaged in the Christian-Muslim Dialogue in the Philippines, particularly promoting the spirituality of a dialogue of life and faith as envisioned by the late Bishop Bienvenido S. Tudtud. Among his research interests are the application of Teilhard de Chardin’s theology and spirituality to the Church’s mission of evangelisation in today’s world. And he is also a member of ESSSAT.
