Yang Yongliang is an artist living in Shanghai, China. He studied traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy from the time he was in grade school until he went to college. He uses contemporary media to combine traditional Chinese painting with the details of modern urban life to create collaged photographs and videos depicting the urbanization and industrialization taking over the Chinese landscape. His work is in the collections of the British Museum (London), the Nevada Museum of Art (Reno), the Saatchi Gallery (London), and the National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne).
